Starting the Morning with a Dance

Brian Mukalazi, Children's Pastor, and Emma Muwanguzi, Outreach Support, typically serve in their roles at the Project Orphan's campus church called Oasis. However, it's no surprise that they have become the creators of the newest hot radio show in the village! Dedicated to keeping spirits high and the gospel alive during the lockdown, Brian and Emma developed a morning radio show and inspired people from all walks of life to come together.

When COVID-19 hit, "I feel our organization was even more prepared than the government. Our team was ready to help navigate the community's needs, such as providing access to medication, meals, and safety." says Brian. "We never allowed our spirits to get down during quarantine. Instead, we came together as a community!"

While churches have remained closed through this season, Emma and Brian found a way to continue sharing the message of Christ from a safe distance to those in the village and outside the community. Recording samples of sermons on their phone - the dynamic duo took to the streets with a megaphone. But once the main road closed, they needed to find a new way to keep people's spirits high and share God's Word!

The two immediately got to work. "We decided to plant small groups among those locked down together," said Emma. Then, they dedicated a community leader within each small group who broadcasted the radio show and the recorded messages.

Brian believed that the important reason for the radio show was to create a platform that shared how God is compassionate and wants to embrace every person - no matter their past. The radio show has not only brought restoration to people's lives, but it has also reached hundreds of youths in the community due to its uniqueness of upbeat, mixed Christian music shared by our very own DJ Emma!
