STANDING WITH THE ORPHAN
FOSTER LOVE
Building a village that believes no child is ever lost & every child deserves the love of a family. Together, we can foster hope and spread unending love.
BUILDING A COMMUNITY TO FOSTER LOVE
Every child deserves a family! At Project Orphans, we believe that children of all ages do best in a family setting versus an institutionalized orphanage. Our organization has pioneered a new way of care for the orphaned in Uganda, Africa. How? By raising a network of Ugandan foster mothers who are committed to supporting the orphaned or abused children — by raising them as their own!
When a child is brought to our organization, we work to get him or her placed into a loving home as quickly as possible. During the pandemic, our organization took the placement of many teenaged girls and their younger siblings, so that they weren't separated. Pearl Village has been a shelter for these children and has provided a safe home, healthy meals, medical care, and psychological wellness.
“Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story.
– Josh Shipp
In 2021, we shared the vision to build foster mothers’ a home where they can live securely while taking care of abandoned, orphaned, or abused children. Well, today — that vision is a reality!
Not one, not two, but three homes have been built and are now fostering hope and sharing unconditional love. And three more homes are in need of being built. Project Orphans is continually ready to break ground on foster care homes, and we’re so thankful for your support!
“I am grateful to be a mother to my new daughters,” shares Jaja Patience (foster mother) as tears fill her eyes. “My purpose on this earth is to serve the Lord, and I know this is part of my opportunity to show these babies love and care for them as my own.”
Jaja Patience has extended her passion to serve by filling the role of a foster mother. Jaja Patience was the first recipient to receive a home built by Project Orphans.
Each foster care home costs approximately $10,000 USD and provides a fully furnished three-bedroom home with a small living area. With your help, it is our goal to continue to build homes and families!
Foster Care Village
Project Orphans works hand in hand with local authorities who call us when children are removed from their home due to extreme neglect and abuse. In 2021, we broke ground on Foster Care Village—neighboring our Pearl Village Campus in Zirobwe, Uganda. Pearl Village is a resource center that houses medical facilities, church, daycare services, education, a farm, security and more, making it a perfect supportive neighbor for our foster care families.
A Place to Call Home
New homes for our growing family!
Our foster family has grown to 22 children and counting! Currently, the kids live in two three-bedroom homes and the teenagers are temporarily living in our domestic violence shelter.
In the beginning months of 2024, we broke ground on two new houses to give the displaced children in care a permanent place to call home. Thanks to generous donors, we have met our goal to complete the construction! Building has resumed and we can’t wait to share the progress.
Mercy's Story
A girl who DECIDED she DESERVED more
The smile on this young girl’s face is miraculous evidence of genuine healing and fierce living. Mercy is 11-years-old and is one amazing little girl. Mercy’s father died when she was a baby and in 2019, she was abandoned by her mother. Mercy was living with her 16-year-old sister, who had recently been raped by a neighbor during the pandemic. The police contacted Project Orphans and brought the two young girls to our campus to live in our transitional living program.
Mercy’s older sister decided to return to her abuser, like many victims do when they are taken advantage of and controlled by their abuser. That is when Mercy decided that she needed to remain with Project Orphans and requested to be separated from her sister.
Our team has seen how Mercy has thrived and found refuge at Pearl Village. Seeking separation from your only family is not easy. Throughout Mercy’s journey at Pearl Village, we’ve seen how God has filled her heart with a joy that only comes through His love. We’ve also seen how this girl lives with an undeniable confidence that is a reminder that nothing is impossible.

-
Project Orphans cares for me! They are different than other people in my village. They talk to me and I also get to share with them.
-
Before finding Project Orphans, life was so hard. I sometimes would sleep on my empty stomach. At times I could miss school because I never had books and no money for school fees.
I remember when I got sick, my mother had no money and all that she used to do to help me get better was to boil leaves for me to drink. My stomach used to feel big and I felt like not eating because I would fear it would burst.
I used to feel bad because I thought I would not live long and that I was going to die any time. My mother left me at the medical clinic while I was getting treatment. I don’t understand why she ran from me or why my fellow friends sometimes make funny jokes about me.
-
I feel so happy because I know I will never sleep hungry, I will be treated when am sick and I have my own bed.
-
I would want to be a doctor so that I treat all the sick people, especially children, because I don't want to see kids in the same pain I went through.
-
Do not lose hope. Trust that God hears your prayers.
-
I would build my community many more water wells where they can get safe water without walking long distances.
-
I would wish to have a ball because I love bouncing balls.
-
I would want people to know that Project Orphans helps the sick people, helps children like me, helps children with special needs, teaches how to dance, has a really good church and also does parties!
